What does it mean to be "dark skinned with red undertone" ?

My mom told me that I have a red undertone and she said I got that from my indian , pakistani , and iraqi parts of my family and I said "Is undertone like when you're out in the sun and the color your skin looks like during exposure?" Am I right?
