Was this so terrible? (added detail)?

Over the summer my friends boyfriend tried to kiss me, and I stopped him, but she found out and got mad at me. Then, they broke up and a week or so later me and the guy had a thing. So now, they are going out again, and at the Sadie Hawkins dance, he danced with me a couple of times. He danced with a lot of people, but we slow danced. He kept trying to go alone to the bleachers with me, and I was like, "no let's socialize with our friends!" She wasnt at the dance, so a bunch of people were spreading rumors that we made out but we didn't, I would never do that to her, she's too good of a friend. I know now that I should not have danced with him, but I honestly didn't think it was a big deal, nothing happened at all. He kept trying to hold my hand and I would shake him off, and I was avoiding him to dance, but no one is telling people THAT. I did all I could, short of hiding in the bathroom the whole dance. What should I do to save my reputation? Was I that horrible?
